My newest creation. Wondering what everyone's opinion is

Im finally getting into converting some of my cut signatures into custom auto cards.. I still need a bit of practice until im 100% comfortable but am very close to having a method I will run with using all archival safe materials.

This isn't an example of a card but an 8x10 i tried out to add to our holiday display. I took a cut signature from Arnold Schwarzeneggers book and paired it with a signed photo of Sinbad from Jingle all the Way. Its just a taste of what im doing with auto cards but curious how everyone feels about this since I am contemplating doing the same with a few other signed 8x10 photos which are relatively easy or cheap to obtain.. I have 2 of these signed photos of Sinbad so wasn't worried. If one messed up, I had a backup plan and would have turned sinbad into a cut. No need though. It worked out in the end but wondering what everyone thinks. At first, it was a bit strange seeing a cut mixed with an autograph on photo but its growing on me. I know there will be some upset the items these were signed on isn't being preserved. Yes the photo is destroyed by basically putting a large hole in the middle but im pretty happy with the result. I might talk to Beckett about adding Arnold on the COA to make it more consistent

It makes me think of this: This was described as a "custom card" and you if don't know the difference between "Cut" and "Photograph" you might be in for a large surprise. There is no other indication this is a modern union. Most won't see the disparity between the image and the age of the signature, or be aware this image was never used as a card by Lugosi and the William Morris Agency credit makes no sense now.

Which was once this:

Or this. Before it was butchered it was dated 1/21/53. Ink under the cancel was a nice touch also. Gone.

Oh boy.. I would never... haha.. but in a way, I did... its all about perspective. I collect books for the autographs. A tip in sheet on a book that has flooded the market isn't the same as your examples. I have no problem at all removing tipped in pages from these types of books. The sinbad signed photo however is a different level. If you are patient, these can still be found on ebay for about $20 to $30 and im pretty sure sinbad is not the next Gleason or Lugosi. I would never do this with items that are not easily replaceable. This is a classic holiday movie though and in 40 years, would it be viewed as a masterpiece?  I saved the cut out piece for possible restoration in the 0.01% chance this does happen.

I still agree with you to an extent.  I've been contemplating doing this for months now and practiced to make sure I would be happy with the result first. Hindsight is always 20/20 and looking back i could have done this differently by overlaying the same unsigned photo with 2 cutouts on top of both signed items to preserve the original sinbad. I will never regret cutting out the schwarzenegger page though.

For the Gleason, that just makes me sad. I wonder what year this was cut and what the collector was thinking. There are other ways to hide an inscription while keeping the original intact. Lagosi is similar, why not just adhere the photo you would want displayed to museum board and turn this into a mat project? While typing this, I see the irony with what I did. Ill stick to cut cards created from tip in books but I won't attempt it this way on already signed items again. Theres always a better way without destruction. Im still happy with this item for my personal collection though.
