Opinions Please! Autographed Signature Dean Guitar By Trent Reznor, Trust Seller?

Hey Guys,

Me again, as you may have noticed I've been posting quite a bit here getting authentication opinions.   I'm currently on a shopping spree trying to pimp out my office with music memorabilia.

Anyway, found this signature dean guitar autographed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails.  Auction here:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRENT-REZNOR-AUTHENTIC-SIGNED-DEAN-EVO-GUI...

A few questions/concerns.  Looks like Trent wrote "Many Thanks" on the guitar.    I find this annoying, am i being too picky?  Does this hurt the value of the autograph?   Do you recommend I "remove" that from the guitar if i were to purchase it?   Is the seller reputable? Lastly, is the autograph real?

Seller messaged me the following bio on the autograph:

"guitar was acquired directly from Reznor's personal guitar rep at Dean (the company who made the guitar). The guitar was sent to Reznor for the 2009 "Say Farewell" tour along with dozens of other guitars that were used during the tour. According to the rep, this guitar was not used, and the surplus guitars that were not used were returned. The rep asked if Reznor could sign one of the guitars, which Reznor did. Hence the reason for the "Many Thanks" inscription."

Thanks!  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Frank,

I'm not as familiar as others here with NIN, so I won't give an opinion on authenticity. But don't hesitate to negotiate on the price. That goes for most autographs.

No doubt about it, this guitar looks great. And I like the signature. And the handwritten NIN. For me, the 'Many Thanks' is cool and a non-issue.

For that kind of money, however, I'd need dramatic assurance that this guitar has rock-solid provenance and recommend (no, I'd insist upon) due-diligence.

For example, my primary concern with this seller's story is provenance: what's the guitar techs name? When & where was it signed? Is the tech's story in writing on Dean letterhead? Is/was Reznor a 'DEAN ARTIST'? Can the Dean company verify the guitar as genuine. Can someone at Dean verify the tech's story?

The buyer always has the power - and you should never be shy about using it.

Wonderful insight, thanks Jim!  Will be contacting the seller shortly.
