Too neat and tidy, in my opinion. Are they from the same source?
Thank you for the exemplar and comments, Etienne. These were acquired from the same seller in Jan 1999 and June 1999 respectively, so seems likely these were later in life as well since he passed away in 1992. Since they were acquired at different times and seemed to be very similar to me, it made me feel both were likely authentic. They also seem similar to the SP you posted but I see your point about being "neat and tidy" in comparison.
Neither of these was very expensive but always hope things are authentic. However, appreciate your help as I continue to sort the good from the bad. Thank you.
From what I can see of the photo, the two you posted look very, very similar to my eye ....that's why I thought that they were from the same source.
Thanks for the additional exemplars, Etienne. Below is a comparison of the two signatures from my OP, the two examples you provided and an example I pulled from RR Auction archives. Other members have suggested looking at signatures upside down to force the eye to view the formation rather than anticipate it. Based on these five signatures, the SP from my OP seems consistent with the other exemplars while the SIG seems "too neat and tidy" but still seems close.
I have no expertise in Paul Henreid's signature and am constantly amazed on the knowledge and critical eyes among members here. Any additional comments and opinions are appreciated.
After comparing these signatures some more, I was concerned about the use of a blue pen to sign in OP. Although uncommon versus black, I did find some likely authentic exemplars in pen colors other than black on History for Sale and RR Auction.
The SIG has several areas that concern me. The top of the "P" looks unnatural and the left of the "r" has a more pronounced point versus the flatter top identified in most of his signatures. Also, as Etienne originally said, it appears "too neat and tidy". I feel the SIG is likely not authentic.
However, I am still holding out hope for the SP. Any additional comments are appreciated. Thank you.
