I know this is probably a fake, but figured I'd check in with everyone here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/144374753272

I can't seem to get the certification number to come up on PSA/DNA, so Im sure its fake.

Maybe someone here has better news for me.

Thanks,

Dan

Definitely a forgery IMO. It has an NFL Auctions COA and their certification number, with PSA/DNA precertification, guaranteed to pass.

Last I heard McCartney never played for the NFL.

And $500? If that was real, easily $2,000+ because of the helmet.

Thanks Steve. I really appreciate your time.

Beckett very quickly sent me an Unlikely to Pass Full Authentication reply. We will see what PSA says.

He did play the Super Bowl half time show the year this helmet is from.

P.S. Steve on my Eric Clapton post (signed blu ray) I got a letter from Eric's management team saying the autograph is real, do you mind popping back in on that thread and see if the letter changes your mind on that one at all? What an unlucky streak.

Danny, the Clapton looked slowly and too neatly signed to me. Not what I'm used to seeing but I could be wrong. If you're satisfied with the letter from his manager, then you're not out much at $80 or what you spend if it ever fails authentication later.

Thank you Steve.

I found some other examples of this style McCartney signed helmet, including right from the NFL Hall of Fame: https://www.profootballhof.com/hof-artifact-of-the-week-37/

Might this change your opinion on this piece?

Agreed. Not authentic IMO.

I found another one of these signed helmets in an NFL online auction from 2006, again I can't pull up the PSA number in their database, but it might predate their current database.

And the Pro Football Hall of Fame featured a signed Helmet with a signature very similar to mine: https://www.profootballhof.com/hof-artifact-of-the-week-37/

Hall of Fame image.

What's odd is that the one NFL sold in 2006 has a different COA style and serial number more than 6,000 higher than the one you posted:

But no, I didn't know McCartney signed any for the NFL. It still does not look right to me though, but that's my opinion.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your time.

Do you believe all three examples are not authentic?

First one being my original listing (cert # 16352), second one from the old auction (cert # 22719), and third one the example from the Hall of Fame? https://www.profootballhof.com/hof-artifact-of-the-week-37/

Thanks,

Dan

The first one you showed was a signature I didn’t like for sure. The one on Invaluable I do like, although it’s hard to authenticate him on the helmets. And I hadn’t seen these before so I was especially suspicious. The third one looks like him but not as easy to tell as the second one. Beckett didn’t like the first one either, but maybe it’s real. I’m not comfortable with it but that’s my opinion.

Steve,

Thank you for your time.

Much appreciated.
