This seems off to me. I have never seen him do the “e” like that in Pete. Looks to me like someone tried to sign like him. There may be some others that have an opinion.
I agree with Nick - I've never seen Pete sign his e's like that.
There are other characteristics that would lead me to believe it's not authentic, but the e's are the first thing that stands out. I've collected his signature through the years and never seen this style. Interesting that you received ttm. Haven't heard of anyone signing for him (family, secretary, etc.)
Thanks you guys, I do agree the e is questionable. In my research there is some e’s that are close. In the lots of luck the letters l f and k match up well with letters written by Pete that are on line. Anything else beside the e in the style that you don’t like? Thanks.
Joe,
By no means am I an expert on his autograph, but I feel I've seen enough over the years to be comfortable in what I consider norm or atypical. Besides the 'e', the letter T bothers me, especially in Pete. It normally is a large loop. I've never seen his t's crossed at the top of the letter like this, as he would cross them within the body of the letter. Also, the L's usually start with a loop and not a straight downward line as yours.
I was just looking through some examples in my files (many with inscriptions, or long letters that he wrote), along with authenticated examples online, and feel they support my thoughts on this. It's just my opinion, and I know that signatures vary with circumstances, etc. Hopefully others have can chime in.
Thanks Whuffman I appreciate your analysis. It is interesting that you have not heard of anyone signing for him ttm so there may be a chance it is ok.
Joe
If you look at the o in Pistol, it appears that the t stops before the o and also again before the l. I would think that is this was signed by Maravich, he would be connecting the letters and not stopping and trying to figure out how to make an o.
