Hi all,

Looking for some expertise on Pantera (Rob G, hopefully you'll see this!)  This was over 20 years ago, so hopefully I remember correctly...but this is how I remember it...Back in the day when I purchased Cowboys from Hell (circa 1991), the CD came with an order form (either that or I sent away to their fan club and got the order form, don't remember) to order Pantera's older albums (ie "Power Metal").  I believe you could also order signed 8x10's.  I ordered Power Metal CD and signed 8x10.  When the package came to me, they said that the CD was sold out, so instead they sent me the Tape, and in addition to the signed 8x10, also gave me a signed promo poster.

I've always thought they were legit, as I acquired them directly from the band...however, i was recently looking at this site & ebay and noticed that the sigs don't look like what is currently out there - specifically Dimebag Darrell's...on mine it is simply D.D.   I'm wondering if this is how they signed back then, when in a rush & signing many of these promos, or if someone else (ie secretary) signed them for the band??

Thanks in advance! Everybody's thoughts & opinions are greatly appreciated

I am sorry but thats not authentic. I also was a member of the original fan club but I can tell you the 8x10 matches the era (from one of the early press kits) but it seems maybe an office worker signed it. The only one kind of close is Vinnies but even with his I am not 100%. As for dimes his only real variation over the years (I have it tattooed on my arm after a late night at a gentleman's club lol) is "dimez" or "dimes" ,

If you need any help finding an authentic example feel free to PM any pictures you have of any you are looking at. I will gladly help you. I wish in cases like this I still had a bunch left over but sadly as time has gone on I am down to the ones in my collection which mean something to me.

I agree with Rob, in that that is not Dimebags signature. I have never seen a dimebag signature with double D's. I guess they could be out their, but i have never seen anything like that, and the D's are not how Dimebag signed them. But a cool pic none the less.

I just recalled during the Power metal era he would sign diamond darrell. So that would be another variation.

Thanks Rob & Carl.  That's unfortunate that it doesn't appear authentic, especially since it was acquired directly from them, and I paid for it!   Oh well.

Nowadays, I collect more on the sports side, but if I ever come across a Pantera auto i'm interested in, i'll be sure to run it by here first.   again, thanks for your input.

Pantera

This is my in person Pantera from 1991 when they opened for Judas Priest in Sweden. Here you can see a full Dimebag Darrell.

Around how much is this worth these days?
