Question about this Ted Williams ball

My friend purchased this back in 1996 and wanted to get some opinions on its authenticity..any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

For peace of mind it may be worth doing a "Quick Opinion" from PSA/DNA. Put it on eBay for a ridiculous price (so that no one buys it) and then request the quick opinion. I believe it's around $8.
