Garry King is well liked by some but I see a big problem with some of the items I see on his site. I'm not referring to Kenny Baker and other small bits but rather the large $$ music items.
Dealers in the UK might not be aware of current music item that they offer for sale. In another thread several autographs from Autografica were deemed fake. The items were Clint Eastwood, Charlton Heston and Harrison Ford.
He might not know there is a problem.

It's all about education guys. So many new tricks of the forgers just keeping coming out everyday. It's a full time job just keeping up with their tactics. I can't begin to tell you how many legitimate collectors I have known (and dealers too) that have turned into forgers or selling of forgeries. Adrian was a well trusted in person collector for many years. He is seen around the UK all the time but he's not always selling the good stuff. It could be greed or could be just plain survival, I don't know but something changed and a lot of people are getting hurt. I loved it when he used the spin about do you know their bodyguards names and do they know yours and all that BS after that. That sounds like the crap a FDA shoves down your throat before wiping you out of your $. I know the truth, I have collector friends all around the world that I chat with on a day to day basis. Garry King is without question an up and up guy, he just got burned and that really sucks.
Here area few more from the same forger. These are at http://www.sportandstarautographs.com:
The two MJs in the photo are on the same site, but not by the forger above:
Lets not make this out to be a UK problem, because as i understand it Adrian sold the same stuff in the USA as well. The USA is not immune from forgers, and the largest suppliers of fake stuff are USA based, lets not forget that, Inferis etc.
"For example, doesn’t it concern you that the explanation given for questionable items is that the signer was possibly on drugs at the time" Sorry, but again i have to say, this was not put forward as a defence, but a possible reason as to why they 'could ' have been different.
It's not a UK problem, it's a worldwide collector problem. we collectors are a skitterish bunch and wisely so. Thus, when several items start coming up short in an inventory then the fallout continues. It's happened hee more than once. If it hadn't been for the original post (of which I so happen to have all 16+ pages of for later reference) and the bellowing regardless of poorly chosen words we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I for one hold people accountable for what they sell, opine on and when a problem is discovered what remedy is taken.
The US is far from immune... does the UK EBay keep a separate banned list from the US EBAY? I know this dealer; Rare and Signed.com was added to the US One.
Hey...Inferis is in Spain!
But www.neautograph.com, www.autographstore.com and many others are US based for sure.
Garry, forgeries are far from a UK only problem. But there are forgery sellers in the UK that have gained the confidence of some very respectable dealers, and it seems like a good number of them have been taken for a long time.
Sorry--I meant UK only problem, not that they weren't a US problem! There a huge problem in the US as well.
When I said "over there" I didn't mean the entire United Kingdom. I meant that I hope the dealer gets to the bottom of whatever is going on. He seems to be genuinely working on it so let's just give him a little time.
I am looking at the MJ's from Roger now, always very interesting when you start comparing a quatity of genuine signatures. Never fails to amaze me how they can look so different, and yet under close scrutiny all be so alike.
Never knew Inferis was in Spain, but then i only look at the ads when i click on the google paid for links so that they have to pay the click through rate!
There are certainly forgers here as there are everywhere (and sadly always will be), and if they have indeed infiltrated any dealers, and it does look that way at this moment, then we will certainly be taking some swift action.
It's always best to nip it in the bud as early as possible!
You're right, Garry...forgers are everywhere. And like Rog said, many are formerly reliable people gone bad. You'll find an unusually high degree of consistency from signature to signature on Adrian's MJs that you don't see on the ones know as real out here.
I uploaded a few more fakes an hour or so ago from Marc's Mclennan's site that are Adrian's style as well, including one of the infamous Michael Jackson/Slash signed photos.
