I didn't pay much attention to how he managed it to be honest. I recall the man with him positioned his hand at the starting point but how he managed to write it to be honest was not of much interest at the time. I'm really not sure he was attempting to keep it in a straight line at all. i think it was just lucky and it turned out okay. There was only four of us there so he took his time - I do remember that.

that one looks like a stamp

Im referring to the on in the ebay link

The one on ebay was an hand-written/unguided autograph taken off Ray in 1963 in Birmingham, UK.

Yes, it does look like a stamp.

It may look like one in your 'opinion' but this was taken direct of Ray in 1963 along with autographs taken from virtually every live band and singer who came to Birmingham during that year big and small.

I'm talking about the one on this postcard on eBay.

So am I. That was taken directly off Ray at the Stage Door of the Birmingham Odeon in May 1963.

It may not be, but it does look like one close up to me.

it certainly isn't a stamp. Paul got two off Ray that day and his friend got 2 as well, he certainly didn't sign 3 and stamp one. lot of autograph books used to get passed back stage back then but Paul only took them face to face as he was savvy enough to know what would come back would probably not be hand-written by the person you wanted it to be signed by. This autograph is in the context of a larger collection of autographs of virtually every band and singer who came into our city - Birmingham, UK - during 1963. It's not a one-off item, its part of a collection of over 1000+ autographs. If you were a buyer I'd jump you on a skype or do a meet (if in same country) with my friend who collected these during those years.

It can imagine if Ray did use a stamp then it would be a stamp of a perfect autograph not of his real autograph. I'd also imagine the market would be awash with these stamped autographs. If you do ever come across an exact stamp to the above I'd be amazed.

I agree that there should be other examples of this same stamp, but if it was over 50 years ago, I am not surprised that there are not many, if any, others to be found.  They were probably tossed.  But it has all characteristics of being a stamp. Why would someone stamp "musically yours" and then have him hand write his name strategically under it?  You can believe what you want, but I believe it is a stamp.
