I’m not a fan of that as an authentic signature. However, as far as Mays goes, his signature has varied quite a bit over the years. As an example, I have a signed Mays ball that I personally obtained from him, but PSA didn’t think it looked authentic.
My suggestionwould be to weigh the cost be the potential that it isn’t authentic... is the cost low enough to gamble or would you prefer to spend slightly more for one that has a more reputable certification behind it? (I’d suggest checking out Willie’s foundation for potential purchase opportunities as well.)
I have herd both legit and not. My main concern is that his signature looks so easy to copy. I appreciate your input. I could obtain it for $50 which is a deal obviously if real but there is the “if”.
I don’t know what happened to your comment. Thanks for your response. Yes it does look similar but still looks like an easy signature copy. In your opinion what is the most you would pay for it before sending it to PSA? Appreciate all the feedback
Only once have I've ever gotten a ball authenticated and that was in order to sell it. Other than that, why bother? If you're not sure about something, walk away from it. I'm sure someone in here can tell for sure if that ball's authentic or not. Also, I'm not particularly blown away by this particular signature either. The market is flooded with Mays forgeries. Yes, it could go either way, but personally, I'd pass.
Is this on a Coleman ball?
Ah... yes. I meant White... not Coleman.
I believe this to be original Scoreboard product and authentic. The plaque on the ball holder is identical to those purchased through Scoreboard in the mid 90s and they were on William White baseballs. Pen type and signature style also match.
