Hi gang! I just received this wonderful, and I hope authentic, autograph today by Richard Conte. I wanted to vet my acquisition with this group because it came with no COA. Anyone familiar with this actor? Does it look authentic? Any chance this is a reprint? Here is the original listing on Ebay: https://www.ebay.it/itm/326620906248
Attaching a photo of the autograph I received. Thanks for any help you can provide! Kent

Hi there - gotcha I will take a look at this in daylight tomorrow to see if it looks like proper hand signature ink. Another difference between the two is the dot on the 'i' in Richard is right where it should be in my photo, but attached to the upper left of the 'R' in the version you found. The loop on the 'C' in Conte is closed in yours, and open on mine. Did you see any authentification (COA) on the version you found? I wonder if it's possible these were done in the same sitting (if they are genuine which I surely don't know if they are).
No question they are different. The one I located did not have any authentication. The one I posted has an unusual "fade" at the "Con" area. Perhaps Eddy will chime in.

Unfortunately, this not Conte. I'm attaching a candid I had that was signed by him. Yours is in his general style, but not him. Caution advised with 5" x 7"s from that era in general.
I'd encourage you to send this over to Autograph Hounds as well. This is the kind of thing we enjoy discussing and learning about there also!
Okay thank you for this. Darn! Yeh i'd be happy to share over on FB!
Sounds good! I'd advise returning it as soon as possible.
Yes. I saw that as candid as well. I was about to get into "what does authentic Conte look like?" and was distracted by the phone. The 5x7 was suggestive as noted.
The good news is I didn't pay a ton for it...and I have a nice print photo of Richard Conte. I have some more new acquisitions to share soon. Cheers!
I'll be gathering opinions on any 5x7 golden era photos before spending money in the future!
That is wise. A large % of postcards and 5x7's are secretarial. Authentic signatures start showing up on 8x10's and more often on 11x14's. This is just a very general guide of course.
Okay, great to be aware of!
