Just wondering does this set of Rolling Stones look like the real deal.

Thanks people. Sorry picture is small. It is on a Manchester Hotel Stationery page.

Looks like it may  be real -- but hard to tell cause pix is too small.

Dear Beatlebum,

I was interested too to this set, I asked a Roger Epperson quick opinion and he reply me only today.

This was his reply: "It’s a decent forgery in my opinion"

This item has been auctioned today for £900. Hope you are not the winner.

Regards

It did look good from the little picture you posted so I also hope you did not buy it Beatlebum.  Out of interest  which auction house was it from?

It's Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions

They sent me a full size picture, that I sent to Roger.

I didn't actually bid but it sold for £900 plus commission (20% or so). Still unsure about it. I found this which looks very similar to the one auctioned today, if its a forgery based on this one its a very good forgery. Wonder what Roger thinks of this. This was originally sold through TRACKS so I would reckon its the real deal and the one sold today based on this looks very good to me, be interested to know what everybody else thinks. https://garyrocks.wordpress.com/2011/10/02/where-do-the-rolling-sto...

Yes, beatlebum, you are right.

This is why this morning I was tempted to bid to that auction but but I wait because unsure.

The two items are very similar

yes, well spotted Beatlebum.  That is a great link that you have posted up, You can see the differences between the Tracks one and the Derweatts one  once you start to look really closely .   Which auction at Derweatts was it in   as there was only a photographic auction today?  This is supposed to be  one of the top 5 auction houses in England as well which is kind of worrying

Hi Michelle, nice to hear from you. It was actually a Derweatts and Bloomsbury which are a really reputable auction house and I would have thought thoroughly checked. Here is their catalogue

I can see differences for sure between the two but still not sure if this is a forgery as I see a lot of correct things too, plus forgeries at these auctions tends to sell for a lot less, seems like its a tough one. I can't say for sure I see this one as a forgery, while they look different, what two sets don't and in this case it looks pretty good, even the letterhead looks the real deal.
