Just wondering if this was a secretarial signed Rutger Hauer? It’s for sure not like his later in life IP autograph, but I wasn’t able to find anything from early in his career, so I’m not sure if it’s changed or not. Would anyone happen to have any examples from back then for comparison? Thanks!

It looks secretarial to me

did look before at your discussion and thought not to reply and that was because i wasn't sure about the ''H'' .now a few hours later i think it's genuine and can't believe it's a secretarial because rutger was well known he did answer his fanmail from france by himself.

Rutger Hauer autographed my Blade Runner photo right in front of me at Wintercon in New York back in 2017.  I agree with Rob.  The autograph appears to be authentic.

Thanks for the replies. I’m still leaning on secretarial as all the examples I could find look exactly like Mike’s, with far too many slight differences from mine. Unless, like I said, his signature changed over 30 years, and someone can show me a verified example from back then, I’m not sure it’s real at this point.

The downstroke of the “R”.  The loop of the “g”.  The flow of the “a”.  The parallel lines of the first “u” and the unparalleled lines of the second “u”.  Those are some very specific traits.  Did you send it to a TPA for consideration?

Here is mine from a few years ago

Thanks for posting that image, Dan.  Everything that I mentioned is in your Rutger Hauer autograph as well.

I was able to find two other examples from the same time period (‘85–‘86) that were identical to the one I posted. Figuring his career in America only took off after Blade Runner in ‘82, he either used a secretary during the first few years of his later stardom (mid ‘80s’), or his signature changed from this (with the parallel ‘H’ and those sharply distinct ‘r’s), to the more curvy ones in the examples posted.

It's a real up in the air one and sadly we'll never be able to ask him and I'm not aware of any study on his signature but hopefully, someone with some knowledge of his early signatures may appear. My gut feeling is still not liking the one you posted
