First - So happy I found this group and I look forward to contributing.

I got this Simpsons Cell from a friend at 20th Century TV. It was all new for them at the time with strange shows like The Simpsons, Cops etc... It was, I guess  1990 or so.

In ant event, I was told this cell was signed by the Simpsons creator (Matt ???). A few cells were passed out to Fox executives when the show launched and this is one of them.

It sure doesn't look like Matt's signature. You think Matt would hand out fake signed cells to the studio execs? Signed by animator or secretary?

OR...

I see that Matt prints his name. This signature is script. Some similarities to his printed signature but I'm not sure. I'm told it could be a very early signature. I don't know????

Thanks In advance for your generous time.

I have NEVER seen a Groening sig that came anywhere close to this.
Must have been signed by someone else imo.

No!

I can't find one anywhere, but I bet it's autograph of the late co-developer of the Simpsons, Samuel Michael "Sam" Simon.  Passed a few years ago.  Seems kind of rare at the moment not finding an appearance of one at all.

For a guy who was apparently an autograph collector himself, his isn't as available as one would hope.

That said, there are a few examples out there, which, sadly, don't look like this.

First name (from Sotheby's)

Last name (from Sotheby's)

2 last names & 1 full name (from Sotheby's)

Signed sketch from a poker player's collection (it's an odd angle, but you can tell that it pretty much matches the Sotheby's examples)
