Sometimes eBay crooks do the darndest (dumbest) things

The only problem is sometimes the victim (buyer) is even more stupid than the crooked seller. Let’s take ebay seller “trump45itup”. He offered a very fake and faded Babe Ruth signed baseball for sale along with a COA.

The COA states that “This Certificate Of Authenticity attests to the fact that the accompanied autograph was obtained by us in-person and is genuine.”

Well, as many of you know, Babe Ruth died a long time ago. In fact, it was 71-years-ago when Ruth died in 1948. So even if their “company” had employed a youngster of say 16 years to obtain the ball from Ruth near Ruth’s final days, that kid would now be 87 if still alive...and anyone else employed at that time by the company would likely be deceased.

But my guess is this was not obtained “in-person” by a sports memorabilia company operating in 1948 and still in business today.

So if you’re going to sell a fake Babe Ruth ball made to look old and faded, it’s probably NOT a good idea to say that it was “obtained by us in-person”,

My guess is that trump45itup is a one-man show and not the brightest bulb on his block. But hey...it sold for $399...so maybe trump45itup isn’t the brightest bulb, but he’s not the dimmest one either! Even in the off chance the ball were authentic, the type of COA that accompanies it would be a bad idea.

Thanks for the nice comment, Ru007. I know what you mean about laughing about this. When I came across this, I was doing the same thing. First, I just started laughing out loud. It was too funny. Then I was like John McEnroe...you cannot be serious?!! And then a rush of Sam Kinison came over me. I just wanted to go scream at the guy!
