For the autograph community, it will be 9/11 times a thousand. That's right, ChatAutopenGPT 911,000. Alright Gary...

Spot on.  Some still do a decent job of it, but the number of lazy signatures is such that we are surprised when we receive a nice, legible one.

All hail the legend that is Johnny Marr, he did a brilliant job with banquet 'personally signed' ....

Absolutely.  My hometown boy did us all proud.

The album chart is more like an autograph chart these days, especially for physical media. Sophie Ellis Bextor probably needs to take more care if she wants chart placings beyond 2024...

Yeah, everything is being sold autographed. I’m about to stop buying all together unless it’s someone I really really love. Most of the sigs are crap and will have no value because they were mass marketed.

I will always prefer getting mine in person and I’m going back to that as I then have a story to tell. I’m finding that Autographs I’ve bought have no value to me. Soulless.

I’m over the “art cards” and “CD cards.” I want my album signed. Ellie Goulding’s website initially said “signed vinyl” (I screen shot it.) Months later they changed it to signed art card. The business has gotten so gross. Fans are the casualties. A means to an end. The only reason most artists do this is to chart an album or a book.

Alison Goldfrapp did an amazing job with her personally signed albums at Banquet where she signed the actual album and was cheeky in what she would sign. Her signed UK CDs were great sigs and had a “love to you x” inscribed.

Totally agree Thom. Here's a handy reminder of what Sophie's autograph actually looks like:

That’s more like it. Even a Sophie would be ok. Mine’s on its way back this morning.

Some old school signed pre-orders
