Well, I'm going to split the difference and say that it's legitimate, but not one that I would want in my collection either.

I agree that it has more typical features than atypical features.  It is probably fine.  I would simply not want it in my collection.  I would always have a doubt in my mind.  I would definitely be interested in hearing what the history of the item is.  Chris may have had it signed in person and is just testing us.
