Hi I’m new to this site and i would really appreciate your opinion on this Fender Strat.  It was told to me that this guitar was signed in Austin in 1990.  The serial number checks out as a fender 88/89.  The seller has held onto this Fender for a number of years and i came upon it and am trying to determine if it’s the real deal.

Anyone have any thoughts on this signature.

I would appreciate it so much!

The signature looks right from the time period. Can't tell from the image scan of it is hand signed or a print?
Hi Richard! Thank you! It came from a collector in Chicago in the music industry. It is hand signed with metallic sharpy on a black guitar. Do u authenticate?
Thanks again,
Phyl
Richard did u see the 2nd closer image?
:)
Yes, I think it looks genuine. I have a signed photo that Stevie signed in silver from 1990 that he sent directly from his home, so I know that is real and this looks as good.

There was no silver sharpies in 90, I need to see the ink up close and clean. I could tell if it is a sharpie or not. The thing is, at first glance it looks good BUT for some reason I see a ton of these Vaughan's with the year 90. They could all be real, or they could all be from a skilled forger.... Need better photo's.

I don't know if it was sharpy I just used that term! I will have guitar on a 30 day examination and will post better pics!

I would have to agree with the others. The picture is not clear enough to really tell, it has an odd quality to it. I am not a guitar player but, where the strings are held at the bottom seems to have the same look as the signature. Scott

Get the serial number from the guitar and call fender and see when it was made.

I did that and its an 88/89 fender strat!
All good there!

I can not believe the testimony given in this deposition and that we are not discussing this and the other depositions! This man once worked for PSA/DNA and has zero education in the authentication field!
I have decided that I will take my piece to an independent VERY reputable ETHICAL handwriting expert who is well trained in that field and in fact has trained and teaches others in the field. I am amazed at the behavior of "the experts". What a dirty business!
These "authenticators" should be ashamed of themselves furthermore anyone who does not find an independent HANDWRITING expert who can compare the autographed piece with some of the originals that are readily accessible to all of us is doing a disservice to this industry and other collectors!

This man doesn't recall anything and does not even know how much his company earns?! What a joke these companies are!

At this point an authentication from PSA dna or JSA means nothing to me. Shocking that Ebay has bought into this!

Isnt this topic about the guitar? Did someone fail this?
