Tom Brady is doing private signings through Tri-Star and Steiner. (See below). I'm interesting in writing a post for Forbes where I cover sports memorabilia. I don't begrudge Brady, I suppose, though I'm a Jets fan.
Three questions, please.
Has anyone ever seen such a high cost for a star to sign your item?
Can anyone thinking of other stars at the peak of their fame and prowess signing?
Finally what do folks think of "private" signings? While half the fun is meeting your hero, if you have a prized possession, it's the only option.
David
P.S. The price of Brady inscriptions is as much as as the vast majority of autographs.

I don't collect much in sports, though that's where I started. Tom Brady is one I want but I don't really want to spend that much. I plan to wait until his fame dies down though if Tri Star continues to own him he might never get cheap. I will keep scanning for somebody re selling a Tri or Steiner and at least get a discount. I don't mind not "meeting" them in a rushed environment anyway and usually if you buy through the company there is better signature placement.
I can wait,or buy one full price if I want, the money isn't an issue( Im waiting for my boy to send me Roger Waters Dark Side and an Adele he just got). Brady is special though and Im still a football fan though the Eagles suck!
here is one that is fairly reasonably priced, Ian

That's why I don't follow the appeal of spending twice as much for the exact same product. If you got to meet Tom and see it sign, then, okay. But you're not, obviously.
You raise a really interesting point, Rich.
As a baseball collector, I've had players sign unique vintage gloves and game-used bats for me. But I can't think of an equivalent for Brady. How many game-used jerseys are out there? The only thing might be to personalize it ,"To XX." But that, of course, devalues the autograph.
So what would be the point of sending something? I'll ask Steiner.
Yeah, if there's an opportunity to get something unique, rare or with special sentimental value signed, then that could be a game changer and makes much more sense than dropping hundreds more on something you can get much cheaper (i.e. standard 8 x 10, mini helmets, football, etc).
Thanks Mr. T but the Mountain Dew killed it for me. I don't really buy things counting on the fact they will be a good investment. I know these things are overpriced. I buy what I enjoy.
