I’ve been looking to purchase a Vincent Price sketch/autograph. This one has a JSA certification. I called JSA to ask when it was certified and was told they don’t keep records of that, which I found surprising. Anyone see any concerns with this one?
The only thing I find curious is if the Best of luck or the signature was first based on when the O and the P cross. The autograph is from 1981 according to the seller.
Very cool Etienne. Vintage Players Directory with enough info to supply a date window.
That is a nice example. What date range do you think it was signed?
After he divorced and when he had two children. The blurb refers to "he married Mary Grant in '50" and has 2 children. So in the mid-50's, under 60, from the paper.
I believe that image attached from the players directory is from HOUSE OF WAX (1953). .... so that may be in the ballpark. Eric may know more.
If he had 2 kids in 3 years then I would agree with Etienne - at latest possibly '54 or '55 I should think.
But re-reading it "...all these years later..." might be some time later - could be 10 years after the Players Directory cut. One kid was with Barret and one with Grant. It is Victoria Grant that I purchased the 5x7 House on Haunted Hill above showing Price cutting the rug with his "co-star".
Definitely a House of Wax photo. Good eye Etienne. The 73 in a circle is odd - he remarried in 1973.
I'd say that check looks fine. It's also made out to an art gallery which has significance to his life and interests.
I purchased this check for $75. I like the art connection and the art gallery that he purchased it from is a big deal. It has their stamp for deposit on the back plus the regular bank stuff.
I really liked that the check is made out to an art gallery. He had such an interest in art. Sometimes they are not too exciting. My Rod Serling check is made out to a locksmith. It doesn't mean I still won't pick something else up. Today I also bought an autograph of Roddy McDowall signed in 1944.
