What do you guys think of this Wayne Gretzky autograph? I'm trying to help my Dad find info before he buys it. No COA.

I’ve never been a huge collector of his but I have met him in person a few times and he was really nice about signing my 2 jersey, I am far from being a hockey fan but this graph seems a bit choppy to me, maybe from the wood grain made it a bit more difficult to glide the marker  across? Seems a bit slow and not very fluid, but I’m sure others with more knowledge will prove me wrong( lol they usually do)

I asked a few friends who are more adept with his autograph. They said it's authentic. No question. Nice vintage auto.

Thanks for asking and getting back to me!

Thanks!

You're welcome, Jon!

Yeah, looks pretty slowly drawn to me.

My theory was that it looks like it may be done in pen instead of felt? Being on wood might make it look slow or choppy but I haven't seen it in person so idk. What do you think about that?

It’s possible, if it’s written in pen it could look slower due to the fact he may have pressed harder due to being written on a stick. Also, seems to me it’s an older autograph if real, the handwriting style seems like a younger persons.

I do have a Gretzky autograph myself, though I should point out I’m not an expert here!

That would add up!  It's an 80s stick. Story was they found it In storage when their dad passed away. Sorry should have included that

I own one as well. Rookie autograph. It has similarlies. Trust me. Yours is authentic. My friends wouldn't steer me wrong. They actually wanted to know where I saw it and I wouldn't tell them. Lol.

Here's mine.

I'm not an expert on hockey autos but since most deem it real, I will say it's an awesome item. I've had a few signed hockey sticks with very shaky autographs due to the texture.

I've heard some good things about Wayne Gretzky signing autographs, even very recently. From all accounts, his autograph can be all over the place but he's always very accommodating.
