What do members think of cut signatures

There are a bunch on eBay for sale, some of them of people who are no longer alive, Are they wanted by autograph collectors? Thank you

I would avoid a cut unless it was a signature that is really rare and not easily available in other forms. Even then, I would proceed with caution. In my experience, cuts tend to have a high frequency of being suspect. Forgers often remove the blank end pages of old books to get the old paper for creating “vintage” cuts.

I agree with Mr Zipper regarding the sneakiness surrounding these types of autographs. However, I have found when going the route of PSA that I added some nice examples of signatures to my collection at a reasonable price. I refer to it as a reasonable price since if the equivalent signature was on an actual piece of their work (i.e. an album or novel), the cost would be quite more.

As a side note, I like how the signature can stand out on a blank card. That is, provided it is authentic.

I like rare cut autographs (e.g., signed index cards) that have been certified and encased by PSA/DNA or Beckett/JSA. I grew up being a hockey card collector, so the compact size of the encased cuts appeals to me. I also like how the signatures tend to really stand out on some cuts. I think it is one of those "to each his own".
