The first rock and pop auction was in 1981, Sotheby's Belgravia; London Dec 22nd.  Programs signed by the Beatles were estimated between 120-150 pounds!

were there dealers in the 60s selling autographs such as the stones,beatles,hendrix etc  the same for the 70s..was it through magazines?

does anyone know when different colored ink pens were used,such as red,green and also when were markers first used? Frank Ciazzo sold a beatles please please me fully signed with a very thick black marker.I also see alot of autographs in red and green pen from the 60s.

I cant see the common person at that time carrying around multi colored pens or even markers

does anyone have a knowledge of the history of pens and markers?

At the Major League Baseball HOF, they have on display and talk about baseball players signing autographs as far back as the very late 1800's.  Could we consider that some "early autograph collecting"???

The MAX FACTOR building in Hollywood aka "The Hollywood Museum" houses (or at least it did about 20 years ago) some vintage 1930's and 1940's signatures............... (I need to go back on another visit.  I went there for a charity event and found it fascinating, to say the least).

Coaches corner had a color personalized dual autograph 16 x 20 photo of Adam and Eve. Said "To Serpent, thanks for the delicious fruit with love Adam and Eve." Authenticated by a forensic examiner and comes with a 50 lb rock with a stone chiseled picture for proof. I think it sold for something like $67.

I would have never believed something like this could exist, but if a "court qualified" forensic document examiner says it's real, I have no choice but to believe it must be so.

Thats #2 on my list of top autographs of all time.  First would be written by God himself on stone tablets, not signed but if you find one watch out for "double d" signed secretarials signed by his understudy, Charleton Heston.
