I use Michaels Arts and Crafts for my custom framing needs, but I am not sure how this information will help you in France.  Good luck Hugh.

Surely you most have a local competent framer. Stop into a frame shop and see what they have on their walls. Most of this stuff is just the way they cut the mats. Always get acid free. You can get UV free glass but it costs more. Keep signed stuff out of direct sunlight on the walls. Hallways are good. Au revoir.
