I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR AN AUTOGRAPH BY DAVID CROSBY {OF THE BAND CROSBY,STILLS & NASH} AND I WAS ABLE TO FIND SOME AUTOGRAPHS BY HIM, BUT NOT AS MANY AS THE OTHER 2 GUYS IN THE BAND. ALSO I WAS INTERESTED IN GETTING AN AUTOGRAPH BY BOB SEGER - BUT THAT ONE SEEMS EVEN MORE OUT OF REACH THAN CROSBY'S! ===> DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THEY DON'T LIKE TO SIGN?

I think you hit the nail right on the head - because I did get to thinking and I felt that for investment purposes that these autographs might come in handy for a rainy day in the future (be worth some money,be of value to someone else and I could sell them if need be) but I think I 'am starting to see what u are saying....Only the Icons, maybe and famous or important historical figures would still fetch a pretty penny. I am a novice, but need to rethink some of this methinks. A few years ago I was buying some sports collectibles and buying some without psa/dna (which was dumb on my part) and UNLESS I can get them verified myself through psa/dna they will not be worth a plugged nickel. I bought a lot of Time Tebow stuff because we really liked him and I live close to Colorado and we got on the wave of popularity that he was on. I still do like him,but I am guessing his stuff now is not worth as much. But I also like to make shadowboxes (as a hobby) and put them in our game room ~ kinda how I got started being interested in autographs..but I really like this site a lot and I do appreciate all you guys that have so much knowledge sharing with me....
Just collect what you enjoy.
The way I managed to score a CSN signed cd was through eBay, and it is authenticated by Roger Epperson. It is their greatest hits comp they signed en masse in silver pen.
Of the modern musicians, it is apparent that Jack White III of The White Stripes commands a large chunk of change. This is because he takes after the old eBay adage. Though I've managed to get Jack to sign a few things, he often goes with a sturdy handshake for his fans asking for autographs.
Too bad Monty Python did not sign , brought along posters to meet & greet , as well as the Fawlty Towers toy car (the second time I didn't get it sgd , first time was in Bergen)
"Due to time constraints".....utter bull , when I met TCB band they didn't mind signing for an hr , free of charge.
that is so cool! Sometimes u get lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time and end up with "gems" like this! - ] I bought a strat pickguard signed by Graham Nash BUT I have decided to sell it (IT IS FOR SALE IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED - PIX ON MY PAGE) as I needed all 3 signatures for a shadow box I want to make...and since I have the signed (slabbed paper) by David Crosby - I figured I would go ahead and buy an autographed album signed by both Stephen Stills AND Graham Nash (so then I would be complete on the autographs) + I knew the pickguard would take up quite a bit of room in a shadowbox -
I had no idea they signed so few of them! Thank you for the insight. I remember paying almost ten times that for my own copy.
Susan, thank you so much for all these posts. I find it much more interesting when people have questions like yours, instead of the daily "Is this Dylan real?" That people long on here with just for our free advice. I'd much prefer stories like the ones everyone is telling here.
But, autographs will be worth money, even if they aren't the legends. You know why? There will ALWAYS be somebody out there that...well, that's their favorite band, and where are they going to find a signed Supertramp album. But...it's still just best to collect what you enjoy, and not worry about the value. It's more fun, cheaper, and less stress!!!
I agree one hundred percent Josh.
TY Josh! and I agree that it makes it more interesting to have a discussion thread on here where people share their different perspective on autograph collecting!
