I'm pretty sure this is secretarial. If it's not, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

well... this actually looks authentic to me

if it is... it's a very early style from the late 30's early 40's

the handwriting looks authentic too

Wow! I'm delighted. This particular Crawford is currently on eBay for $275. Although, the condition of the piece leaves a lot to be desired. Rather beat-up, still nice Crawford portrait.

Matted and framed tastefully and properly in silver leaf...would look wonderful in my opinion. Wonder what JoeW would say?

A Hurrell signed by Joan in better shape would be 4 figures. It would make a nice addition to any collection for the right price. It would look great matted. If you don't want it, LMK, I may take a shot!!

Just as I suspected! ;)

Be my guest. :-)

Let me know if you are able to buy it. I just don't have the necessary cash, unless I put it on a credit card, which I don't want to do.

I will test the waters and see how this shakes out. It's a nice find although the condition stops it from be an amazing find.

I think well framed in a deco silver leaf frame and by matting out most of the problems it could be quite nice indeed.

Whoever is going for it, it will be fairly silvered - not the end of the world but I can see it from here. Mentioning the silvering might be a way to...make the best use of the Make an Offer feature...

I did make an offer so we will see. I think this may be a piece that will need some restoration. It needs to be preserved. If I happen to get it, I won't know until it is in my hands.

Reasonable miracles can be accomplished with a small round sable brush, a bristle brush, a microfiber cloth, some graphite and a bit of watercolor w/distilled water... ;)
