Hi all,

Sean Connery is a difficult autograph. He is heavily forged, used numerous secretaries, hates signing and even at the best of times has a super sloppy autograph.

Id love to try and dig a little deeper and perhaps even come up with a bit of a guide to help people with Connery autographs given their value and durability.

  • I know he signed fairly freely in the 60's in blue or black thin biro.
  • I know he released his book 'Being a Scot' and signed many first editions using one of two different style bookplates.
  • I know even Rittenhouse who release official Bond collectable cards rely on cuts from his signed books.
  • I know that one of the most common Connery autographs is what I term the 'charity signed' autograph which features in either black or blue thick texta 'Best wishes Sean Connery' (fairly) neatly.. and yet as mentioned in Greg's thread in this forum, noone and no seller has any further info about these charity signings.. eg when, where and for what charity- although I do note that many originate from a European seller.
  • Finally, I know that his autograph varies significantly depending on setting, year and... erm... mood.

What I would love to do is have people post pics of their guaranteed authentic Connery autographs, or alternatively provide any facts/insight info they have about collecting Connery.

So, does anyone have a Sean Connery autograph or know anything they could share?

Cheers!

I would vote "no" on this one.

Hi,

I would be interested in opinions on this autograph. I do see some similarities between his authentic autographs, but as mentioned, his signature does vary .

Background info, I picked up this piece from a trusted collector who does a lot with charities. I have read that Sean Connery has done some work with charities. I trust the collector and have gotten a Scottie Pippen and Shaquille O'Neal which are definitely the real deal. If this is a fake, it's one of those things that all collectors risk .

But yes, thoughts on the autograph?

Hey Kane,

Sorry mate but that's not legit in my opinion. Its a fairly common style of forgery that I have come across many times. I have never once seen Connery sign authentically with anything like that massive loop on the lower part of the S. The rest of the formation is also off. Id try for a refund if you could.

Sorry man!

This is the one I have. Came from an older collection with photos signed by other celebrities like Buddy Hackett and several others from 60's and 70's time frame.
