I am always interested in buying signed Presidential Books, especially those Authored by the President. go to universityarchives.com for more info
I sent a book to Jimmy Carter to sign years ago and got it back with a bookplate signature. It looked too perfect to me so I thought it was an autopen and gave it to my cousin. Has Carter been known to use an autopen for bookplates?
I am unaware of Jimmy Carter using an autopen on bookplates, post presidency. Do you by chance have an image of the signature in question?

No I don't. I think I just thought it was an autopen cause the writing was nicer then his book signing signatures. I am going to try him again.

I know of a signed autobiography of Theodore Roosevelt. It was donated to the local Historical Society of Two Rivers and this is the first time I actually saw it. The Society wants to sell it and there was an offer of 5 grand for it. So I have two questions for you....

1) Is it real?

2) Is it worth that or more or less....?

I guess I ask as it is a numbered book and I cannot believe Theodore Roosvelt signed 500 copies of this book....almost looks like a stamp or early version of "autograph machine"....

What do you think?

Hi Jim,

Good to put a face with your name.   I'm the guy that used to buy all of your Richard Nixon autographed "Real Peace" books.   The ones signed on the blank flyleaf.   I've probably bought at least 100 of those over the years of the rumored 1000 that were issued  (although I've heard that the reported 1000 number is way high).   Everyone seems to want an arm and a leg for them these days but I still occasionally manage to ferret them out for $50-$75.  Always a bonus when they come with the good content TLS's on Vietnam as well.

Any current new studies or guide books?

I've had several Presidential signed books. Right now, I have a Obama and Biden dial signed "Dreams from MY Father", Clinton's "Giving", and a Carter signed book. All are authenticated by either PSA or JSA. Anyone has any specific interest, let me know.

I currently have an inscribed edition of Ronald Reagan's first autobiography, " Where's The Rest Of Me ? ". Pics on My Page here.

This was just before he became an active politician, so is more about his career in the movies and Hollywood in general.

I have also had many editions of U.S. Grant's "Memoirs". Grant is supposed to have signed every book of Volume 1, which was how he spent his last days while terminal with cancer.  I sold two volume sets in good condition for 250-350 back then ( before 2000 ).

If I recall correct died a few days after finishing the manuscript I do not believe he lived to sign any of the actual printed books.

Excited to pick this one up. TR.
