Yesterday brought me the autograph of legendary Buffalo Bills quarterback, Frank Reich. Frank would fill in for Hall of Famer Jim Kelly when Kelly was injured, and would make the most of his playing time. He led the Bills to several keys wins over the years he played for them, but none bigger than the 1993 AFC Wildcard Playoff Game against the Houston Oilers. Down 35-3 in the third quarter, he rallied the Bills to a stunning 41-38 victory, the largest comeback ever in NFL history.
Forgot to post this last week....got Craig Neal through the mail. Craig was a standout guard at Georgia Tech from 1983-1988. His senior season, he led the ACC in assists per game (9.5) and set the then ACC record of 303 assists for the season. He played in the NBA from 1988-1991 with the Trail Blazers, Heat, and Nuggets.
Heck no, Russ! I think it turned out sharp. I do stuff like that all the time. You can find some good stuff at Goodwill at times.
I found this picture matting at the Goodwill today. It had a little gold medalion of some Greco Roman stuff, but I peeled that off and affixed the ticket stub from when I saw TNA Impact at the Hillsdale County Fair. I also made a cut signature of Austin Aries and attached it with an actual picture of Aries from the event.
Martha Stewart, I'm not. But, I don't think that It turned out too bad. Especially for a buck!
Very nice autos esecially of the garvins russ!
Was able to get out and go to a local card show today in Roswell, GA. Came across these fabulous little sports gems:
1.) Colin Montgomerie. Colin is one of the greatest European golfers in the world. He has won many times over on the European Tour, and has been on the winning side of 6 Ryder Cup teams, one of them being the European captain.
2.) Chet "The Jet" Walker. Chet was one of the greatest forwards in NBA history. He was one of the main guys on that 1967 Philadelphia 76ers team that ended the Boston Celtics reign as NBA champions for 8 straight years. He was a 2-time All-American at Bradley University and a 7-time NBA All-Star, and was elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame 2 months ago.
3.) Antonio Freeman. Antonio was a star receiver and return man at Virginia Tech from 1991-1994, and starred for the Green Bay Packers Super Bowl XXXI championship team in 1996.
4.) Rob Johnson. Rob was a star quarterback for the University of Southern California from 1992-1994, and was once the record holder of every major passing mark at USC. In the NFL, he bounced around from team to team, but in 2002, Rob would help the Buccaneers by filling in for Brad Johnson a couple of times when he was injured, and the Buccaneers eventually went on to win Super Bowl XXXVII.
5.) Frank Sanders. Frank was an All-American receiver for Auburn University in 1994, and went on to a nice NFL career. He played 9 seasons, 8 with the Cardinals and 1 with the Ravens, and amassed 507 catches for 6,749 yards, along with 24 touchdowns.
I've been able to score these sports gems in the mail this week:
First, the autograph of Alphonso Carreker. Alphonso was a 2-time All-American defensive tackle at Florida State in 1982 & 1983, and was the Packers First Round Draft Pick in 1984. He played for the Packers from 1984-1989, and then with the Broncos from 1989-1991. He helped guide the Broncos to the AFC Championship and Super Bowl XXIV in 1991.
Next, the autograph of another Florida State University legend, Joe Wessel. Joe was a star special teams player for FSU from 1981-1984. He really shined his senior year, where he set several school records for blocked kicks. He scored 3 touchdowns off of blocked kicks in 1984, including the game-tying touchdown against Georgia in the 1984 Citrus Bowl (the game ended in a 17-17 tie.)
And finally, after a 461 day wait, I got the autograph of LSU great, Eric Martin. Eric was an All-American wide receiver who played at LSU from 1981-1984. He set numerous school records, and went on to be a Pro Bowl receiver for the Saints and Chiefs in the NFL (1985-1994.)
