Just got in from tonight's game between the Gwinnett Braves and the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, and had one of the most incredible autograph experiences ever. For about 35-45 minutes before the game, the Iron Pigs manager, BASEBALL HALL OF FAME SECOND BASEMAN RYNE SANDBERG, graciously signed autographs for the fans that waited for him. Mr. Sandberg was such a nice guy, chatting it up with some of us fans as we passed down the isle in line to get to him by the dugout. He was one of my childhood favorites, and he did not disappoint. Will post a picture tomorrow; just too tired right now, and want to soak up up this unforgettable experience.
Got the autograph of former Notre Dame All-American and All-Pro tackle, George Kunz. George was on the 1966 National Championship team at Notre Dame, and turned into an All-American offensive tackle in 1968. In the NFL, he played for the Falcons and Colts, and was named to 8 Pro Bowls.

Today's mail brought me some autographs from some of the very best to ever play sports at the University of South Carolina. First was an autograph from Jones Andrews, who was a wide reciever on the Gamecocks 1987 Gator Bowl team. Next was Bobby Held, who was named an All-American in 1966 by the New York Daily News, and went on to play in 4 Super Bowls with the Minnesota Vikings. Then there was an autograph from Bobby Held, a tennis All-American who won the 1967 ACC doubles title, and the 1968 ACC singles championship. And finally, I got an autograph from 2-time All-American golfer, Steve Liebler. Steve was an All-American in 1979 and 1980, and went on to one of the best amateur golf careers ever in the USGA.
Yesterday's mail brought me the autograph of former Florida State fullback, Tanner Holloman. Tanner was a good, solid fullback in that offense FSU had in the 1980s. His shining moment came in the 1986 All-American Bowl, when he rushed for 36 yards, and scored on a 10-yard run to put the game out of reach against Indiana.
Today's maIl brought me the autograph of former Florida State defesive back, Keith Jones. Keith played for FSU from 1978-1980. He was an Academic All-American, and was one of those pesky-type of defenders, excelling at defending the pass, stopping the run, blocking punts, etc. Scrappy little dude who is now a sports broadcaster for FSU and Fox Sports Florida.
Just got back from vacation at the "Redneck Riviera" known as Panama City Beach, FL, and my mail box was slammed with sports goodies! Found an autographed golf card of the 1975 U.S. Open champion, Lou Graham, and a signed Collegiate Collection card of 1958 All-American halfback Alex Hawkins from the University of South Carolina, who would go on to have a nice career with the Colts and Falcons. And to top things off, I got a signed 8x10 of the 1990 National League Cy Young Award winner, Doug Drabek. What a way to wrap up a vacation!
Hey, keep that mojo up, Russ! The only bargain bin I have ever gotten was that Jenny McCarthy 8x10 I bought for $1 at the monthly swap meet last summer. Hope I can run across something like that again this year.
