Man, oh man! Did my weekend get even better in the autograph area! I have recently moved into a new house and into a new community, so I have been having my sports autograph requests through the mail go to my mother's house, so as to not loose any through forwarding mail. She brought them to me this weekend, and here's what I got:
*1960 Topps card signed by former Dodgers great Chuck Essegian
*1961 Topps cards signed by former Giants great Jim Davenport and by former Tigers great Charlie Maxwell
1963 Topps card sigend by former Houston Colt .45s great Bob Bruce
1966 Topps card signed by former White Sox great Greg Bollo
*1989 UGA Collegiate Collections cards signed by Vince Dooley, Billy Payne, and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker
*1990 LSU Collegiate Collections card signed by Charles "Bo" Strange
*A picture I cut out of a Sports Illustrated magazine signed by NFL Hall of Famer George Blanda
*A picture I cut out of a Sports Illustrated magazine signed by Joseph Ngwenya of the Houston Dynamo MLS soccer team
Here's wishing you all the best of luck, and if any of you need help, give me a holler!

Last night was a night to remember down at Turner Field in Atlanta, GA. It was the first night of their Annual Braves Alumni Weekend. Many of the Braves greats from the past were there, and I was fortunate enough to snag a few autographs. Steve Avery (1991 NLCS MVP, 1993 All-Star, and winning pitcher of Game 4 from the 1995 World Series) was there and he signed my 1991 and 1992 National League Champions Braves photo collages, and my 1995 World Series team ball, and a baseball card from a 1993 Stadium Club team set. Brad Clontz, relief pitcher on the 1995 World Series team, signed a license plate I had commemorating that year's team. Jay Howell was there and signed a 1988 Donruss and 1990 Score baseball cards I had of him. Marquis Grissom was there, and he signed a 1990 Fleer rookie card I had of him. Jeff Treadway, member of the 1991 and 1992 National League chhampionship teams, signed a 1990 Topps baseball card I had of him. And then the BIG ONE, the incomparable Dale Murphy, the 1982 and 1983 National League MVP, who should also be in the Hall of Fame by now, was there and graciously signed a baseball right on the sweet spot. What night! And throw in Billy Wagner earning his 400th career save, and you have yourself a wonderful night in Braves history.

Today I got back in the mail my 1990 LSU Collegiate Collection card signed by the great quarterback Bert Jones. Bert was an All-American in 1972, and would go on to have a wonderful pro career, earning the NFL MVP award in 1976. Played 10 years in the NFL, and threw for 18,190 yards, and 124 touchdowns.

Shane, I got Lindsey Vonn a couple months ago. I will tell you this, don't send any Sports Illustrated magazines. She will not sign them. Quite frankly, I wouldn't either if they praised me one week and then stabbed me in the back the next week. What you'll probably get is a nice leaflet printed on thick stock paper. It's really nice, and she has a gorgious signature to go along with her fine self! :) Also, I believe that most of the 1980 Team USA hockey team will sign. I wrote Apollo Ono and it's been about 4 months and no response yet, but he takes a while sometimes. He stays real busy.

Ooops! I forgot one! Buck Belue, the quarterback for the University of Georgia 1980 NCAA Football National Championship team, does the Atlanta Braves pre-game show with former Braves pitching coach Leo Mazzone, and former Braves second baseman Mark Lemke. Fans can walk up to the Champion Windows and Doors radio booth and during commercial breaks, get an autograph from these sports legends. I had already gotten Leo and Mark earlier this year, and today I got Buck to sign my 1980 UGA mini-helmet I've been working on. He gave me a fabulous signature on the left front side of the helmet. Buck loves his fans, and it was such a pleasure meeting him today.

Wow! What a great weekend for autographs! Saturday brought me through the mail my 1966 Topps card of former relief pitcher, Terry Fox, signed beautifully in blue ink pen. Over 7 seasons, Terry played for the Braves, Tigers, and Phillies, amassing a 29-19 record, with 59 saves, and a sparkling 2.99 ERA. He was in the top 5 in the American League in saves in 1961 and 1962.
And today, Sunday, brought me the oppurtunity to meet former Braves Ryan Klesko and Albert Hall. Both were extremely nice to everyone who showed up. Ryan was an invaluable member of the 1995 World Series champion Atlanta Braves team (hit for a .313 average, with 3 homeruns, and 4 RBIs,) and was an All-Star in 2001 with the San Diego Padres. Ryan signed my 1995 World Series team ball I have been working on for the past 3 years, and an 8x10 I have had of him for about the past 5 years. A long time I have had to wait for this oppurtunity, but it was worth it. Ryan has one of the best signatures in all of baseball.
Albert was not to be out done, either. Albert was a long time utility outfielder who played 8 seasons for the Braves, and 1 season for the Pirates from 1981-1989. He was the first Atlanta Brave and first Braves player in 77 years to hit for the cycle when he accomplished the feat on September 23, 1987. He signed for me a 1989 Topps and a 1989 Upper Deck baseball card I had of him. He, too, has a beautiful signature. My thanks goes out to Mr. Fox, Mr. Klesko, and Mr. Hall, for their kindness and generosity.

jtk.....I know that in the Atlanta Braves Media guide, they list the hotels where the different visiting teams stay at. Maybe you should try and get you hands on a Pirates media guide? They sell the Braves media guides in the clubhouse stores here, so I would think that the Pirates would do the same. Just an idea for a starting point.
