There was a smorgasbord of "Mickey Mouse Club" alumni at the Hollywood Show in April 2010. Steve Stevens was also in the "Annette" seriel in the third season of the "Mickey Mouse Club" and I was able to obtain his autograph on this photo for my scrapbook on the MMCs seriels. This was April 24, 2010.
Though I had first met original Mouseketeer Sharon Baird at the Mouseketeers 50th anniversary reunion in 2005, it wasn't until April 27, 2007 that I was able to meet her again to have her sign this photo for my scrapbook. And the following day, as per pre-arrangements between Lonnie Burr and myself, I was finally able to meet him and his wife.
in June 2003 I was watching CNN when they were reporting on the Alpine wildfire which was taking place in Arizona at the time. They interviewed this resident of the area that was ravaged by the fire and his name, Don Underhill, was vaguely familiar. After checking my Lorraine Santoli book and MouseStars.com, I came to realize he was another original Mouseketeer. I printed out this page from MouseStars.com, found an address online for Don to write to him and sent this page to him, asking verification that he was the Mouseketeer I thought. He responded by signing and returning this page confirming his identity. He lost everything in that wildfire and I headed up replacing the MMC memorabilia he'd also lost. I never expected him to express his desire in coming to my home to meet me and thank me in person the following year!
With these signed items, along with some photos I'd taken at some of these events I attended, I started putting together my own Mickey Mouse Club scrapbook. The first one got so full, I needed to start a second one. Then I did a third one strictly for the seriels, and the fourth one for the Mouseketeers 50th Anniversary Reunion at Disneyland in Oct. 2005. This all started when I purchased the "Official Mickey Mouse Club Book" by Lorraine Santoli which came out in 1995 for the 40th anniversary of the show. It tells the history of the Mickey Mouse Club and contains photos including the seriels and the televised 25th Anniversary which aired in 1980. After reading the book I thought it would be really cool if I could obtain as many autographs as I possibly could of those whose pictures appeared in it. After 15+ years I think I succeeded, and with pictures supplied to me for my scrapbooks from other Mouseketeer fans.
In 1998 I was able to learn from Doreen Tracey of a website dedicated to the original Mickey Mouse Club Mouseketeers.....www.MouseStars.com. When Lonnie Burr didn't make the Orlando Autograph Show in Oct. 1999, I sent him an e-mail through this website, expressing my disappointment that he wasn't there. He responded with an e-mail with apologies and explained that he had another autograph show closer to home at the same time. Amazed that he would personally respond, I developed a "pen pal" friendship with him. In 2002 I mailed him a Mickey Mouse Club themed postcard that I'd purchased at Disney World. He responed by mailing me this photo of himself which he signed and dated.
