Jackie Gleason index card one of the few things I own slabbed.

Scott -

That's funny about this being the only thing you have slabbed. I had one item that came "pre-slabbed" when I purchased it.  I know many collectors who value slabbing though.

Jackie Gleason is an interesting one.  I had a friend (since deceased) for whom Gleason was a favorite and who spent a great deal of time researching Gleason's signing habits...or lack thereof.  I had followed his study as he went along and was duly impressed by his work.

That is interesting about your friend.  I only buy slabbed if I have to lol.  I do have some others Fred Gwynne, Mia Farrow, and Jonathan Frid.  I also have some checks that were slabbed for some unknown reason, Tony Randall, Joe DaRita and maybe a Bob Newhart.  I do not like the slabs but do not dare try to take them apart for fear of hurting the paper.  They take up a lot room and hard to display.  Yes a lot like them. I suppose if I was given a choice of a slab or one of those horrible stickers, I would take the slab.  I think slabs were popular among "investors" more than regular collectors.

I was thinking the same thing.  I'd take a slab any day over a sticker plopped on an autograph.  The back is somewhat okay for a sticker in some cases, but the front is a No-No in my book.

Very nice.  I recently removed Art Carney, Audrey Meadows and Joyce Randolph autographed index cards from PSA holders.

Thanks Mike.  I have thought about it, but am nervous about it.

I would be as well, Scott.  Not necessarily recommending it, but here's an article on this very subject:

I only removed them because I plan to have them all framed one day.  Otherwise, I would have left them in the PSA holders.
