"Sorry, but it's clearly not Jim's handwriting nor signature in my opinion. The rather dumb forger didn't even attempt to copy off an authentic exemplar. "

"I know very little about Morrison's signature, but 1) that's not even close and 2) it looks like it was signed last week."

"Unfortunately, this definitely isn’t signed by Morrison in my opinion. It doesn’t look like whoever signed it was trying to forge his signature."

Jim Morrison Autograph discussion again

The seller of this guitar never mentioned a word about the writing (autograph?) on it when posting it for sale on-line.  He reduced the price because of it.  This was not sold to make more money because of the signature.  The seller seemed to be unaware as to who "Jim Morrison" may have been.  The guitar itself was a FIRST YEAR ISSUE of C. F. Martin & Co.'s Sigma line.   It was a comparatively expensive guitar in 1970.  It is difficult to believe that a guitarist (most of us worship the C.…See More

Lawson's Rare Guitars replied to Steve Cyrkin, Admin's discussion Jim Morrison Signed Guitar: Is it Real?
"How about a first year issue Guitar from 1970, an expensive Sigma, made by C. F. Martin & Co., signed by Morrison?  Would that be more likely?  I think it more likely since no one would mess up a first year issue Martin with a fake…"

Why do you want to join Autograph Live?
I purchased a 1970 Sigma guitar (first year Sigma came out) for a reasonable price for the instrument. The seller reduced the price because "some guy put his name on his guitar and spoiled it." The back has an short message in the same script. It says Jim Morrison, but is it a Morrison signature? To my eye, it looks good, but it sounds too good to be true. It is written in magic marker (which came out in 1953. The marker is possible, the guitar is an acceptable date because Morrison died in 1972. Now I need expert opinions. To post pictures, I need to be a member. I also may run into more signatures as I collect. Thank you for the service you provide.
Who can we thank for telling you about us?
Me. It is my proclivity to surf and to do research.
What are your areas of interest?
Sports, Books/Literature, Music
Why do you collect?
I love history, all knowledge, and heirloom attention to detail and durability. I also love fine art. I have a gorgeous (and expensive) picture of Shiva and his consort Pahvarti painted on glass with paint that has no pigment (only clear glue and crushed gemstones for coloring) and it was made by the family that constructed the Taj Mahal. You gotta love stuff like that!
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
Cheech and Chong (I met them in person and got a doxen things signed by them in person so I KNOW they are authentic). Tommy and I both worked as staff writers for "Cannabis Culture Marijuana Magazine". I have had a lot of experiences with famous stoners.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
FIRST: Leonardo da Vinci HONORABLE MENTION: President John Fitzgerald Kennedy
