hi Steve...do you know anything about a NJ long time promoter named Fred Davies...he has a trove of MANTLE and Dimaggio items...he claims he was their promoter for years,,,I looked around his office and he does have quite a few pics with them going back decades,,,problem is much of the stuff he is looking to unload (he is now 83 years old) seems like it is brand new condition..just wondering if you knew anything bout his reputation

Yeah. I wrote a monthly column for the print version when Ev was around. It was called Off the Wall. Also wrote 2-3 features a year.

Hope you’re doing well.

Hi Steve. I was scammed by Brian Burkell who now goes by Ken Burns. My credit card company is investigating the fraud claim I instituted against him and his bogus guitar he said was a signed Washburn by Chicago. Not a Washburn and fake signatures! Terry Kath has been dead since 1978! I feel so stupid because I usually get everything I buy on the Internet but I didn't with him. I think he should be prosecuted for mail fraud but I don't want to sue him if he has no assets. So bummed about this. Thx.

PS I'm not sure how I might receive a reply. Will there be a message in my email or do I have to keep checking this site?

Hi Steve, I'm not a big collector but I have a couple of genuine items I might sell.

A 1967 A.F.B. Festival programme in poor condition signed by Brownie McGee and the bassist Dillard Crume.

A 1968 Programme in good condition with all the signatures: Walter Horton, John Lee Hooker, T-Bone Walker, Jimmy Reed, Big Joe Williams, Curtis Jones, Eddie Taylor, Jerome Arnold and J.C. Lewis.

I know they're genuine because I collected them myself.

I would like to find out what they're worth before deciding whether to sell them.

Can you give me any advice either on the value or how to find out?

Circa 1988 Jackson 5 signed album: Authenticity opinions

Someone said she bought this signed Jackson 5 album in 1988 in a charity auction, along with 2 tickets for his concert that she went to and a jacket. She asked where to have it authenticated so I asked her to send it to me first to see if I think it's good.Michael's is unusual but I think it's real. I'm not as familiar with the rest of the group but I think they're likely real too. What are your thoughts?…See More

Guitar Signed by The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Other Artists in the TCM-Bonhams March 27 Auction

Posted on March 8, 2017 at 8:00am 24 Comments

Last I heard, there were no genuine, intact Beatles-signed guitars known. The only one was reportedly destroyed in a Malibu, Calif. landslide about 15 years ago.

RR Auction sold one a Beatles signed guitar around 2010, but the owner had tapped the autographs down with an awl to, um, "preserve them."…

RR Auction Lawsuit: No Evidence of Shill Bidding

Posted on September 6, 2016 at 11:30am 11 Comments

The judge rejected Michael Johnson's fourth attempt to add shill bidding allegations to his RR Auction lawsuit a few weeks ago. With his attempt to make it a class action lawsuit failing in March 2015 and his attempt to add shill bidding and another claim failing on August 12, Johnson's case heads to trial in January, apparently on his original claims only.…
