Melvin L. Bashore replied to Michael's discussion Is this Jack Nicklaus signed photo real
"My guess--and it's just a guess--is that the signature very much resembles a 1961 newspaper sports cartoon that he signed for me in the mid-1990s (see attached). When I sent him another sports cartoon to sign about a year later, he wrote that…"

Steve Zarelli replied to Michael's discussion Are these Ted Williams signed index cards real?
"Yes... I was not implying these two signatures matched each other as an autopen would, but often celebrities use more than one autopen pattern. "

JK replied to Michael's discussion Are these Ted Williams signed index cards real?
"Fascinating.  I don't think they are autopen as there are clear differences. Maybe a light rubber stamp impression that was then used as a guide for a wider felt tip? "

Steve Zarelli replied to Michael's discussion Are these Ted Williams signed index cards real?
"Right. Or if it is an autopen, they tried a dying ballpoint first then went over it with the marker."

Michael replied to Michael's discussion Are these Ted Williams signed index cards real?
"Hi Steve, Thank you for the feedback. I found it odd how the marker signature looked like it was written over a template that appears to be in faint pen. Take care, Michael"

Steve Zarelli replied to Michael's discussion Are these Ted Williams signed index cards real?
"These certainly appear unnatural. I am not sure if Ted ever used an Autopen, but both signatures strike me as having Autopen like traits. Deliberate, uniform speed and pressure... a little slow. Autopen or traced by secretary.... I doubt these are…"

"I've been selling my collection that I gathered TTM in the 1970s. Many of the autographs have my complete name and I don't have a problem with that. Interesting comment below about Neil Armstrong. He did sign it to my first and last name.…"

"That's interesting. I have some Ted Williams signed index cards that look like they were traced by someone over a faint stamped signature. I'll have to post those."
