"Agreed this set is definitely signed by Neil. As to value it really depends what he signed.  Lp covers tend to fetch the most money, closely followed by signed photos. An item like the one shown here might be worth $50 to $100?"

"There are several giveaways, but after seeing a number Aspinall sets the overall appearance is easy to spot. Sometimes he would finish a partial set, but in this case he signed for all four."

About Me

What kind of member are you? (Check as many as apply.)
Collector, Dealer
What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.
My personal collection consists of 40,000 signatures and signed photos. In 2010, I worked with some of the industry's top auction houses, dealers and private collectors to establish what is rapidly becoming the world's largest resource for painstakingly located and confirmed celebrity signature exemplars in the field of vintage entertainment, a long-overdue project intended to facilitate authentication, identification and appraisal, and to increase interest in some of the great and lesser-known names from entertainment's vast and fascinating history.
What is your level of expertise?
Advanced Collector, Long Time Lover, Professional
Why do you want to join Autograph Live?
I'm the Creator and Founder of The Classic Entertainment Autograph Database (www.TheCEAD), which has been references on several occasions on Autograph Collector Live. I was kindly invited by the publisher of your excellent site to join and regularly contribute to group discussions. I'm also the owner of Classic Entertainment Autographs (www.ClassicEntertainmentAutographs.com).
Who can we thank for telling you about us?
I was invited by Steve Cyrkin, the Publisher
What are your areas of interest?
Books/Literature, Modern Hollywood and Stage, Classic Hollywood and Stage, Music, SciFi, Horror
Why do you collect?
My background is in clinical and forensic psychology and neuroscience, and-- as a passionate amateur endeavor-- I was interested in learning to about how handwriting develops over time; how it is impacted by periods of psychological distress, age or cognitive decline; and how one might best distinguish forgeries from genuine signatures of notable persons. A huge classic movie buff, I originally began collecting vintage signatures for the purpose of studying them, but, somewhere along the way, became inamored of collecting Hollywood autographs for the sheer sake and pleasure of doing so. I am now trying to share everything I've learned about a lot of different celebrities' handwriting to help other collectors and even professional dealers authenticate various signatures via my autograph database, which I like to think of as a long overdue, highly academic endeavor! I, in turn, learn from every auction house, dealer and private collector that contributes exemplars to the site. Nobody can be 100 percent with regard to authentication; the site makes no claim to be, but we are trying VERY hard to make the most educated, cautious determinations possible, with some entries taking weeks or even months to complete.
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
This is impossible to say!
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
Edgar Allan Poe-- I'm a huge fan.

Wascher told me to message you and ask for help with your opinion on a Boris Karloff autographed photo I just purchased. Could you check out our conversation started today?  Thanks so much and nice to be introduced to your page!

Gary,

I was referred to you by Steve Cyrkin.  I have a few autographs that I need help with authenticating.  I recently purchased a James Cagney, which I would like to have a second opinion on.  Also, I have managed to find a couple of Gene Kelly signatures that I would like to know more about before I decide to buy either of them.

I understand that you are a busy man and I really do appreciate your time.

Hi Gary!

Thanks for your note. I have already checked out The CEAD (in fact many of your examplars are from my company RR Auction ;), it is quite impressive and you seem to have lots of obscure Hollywood people. Will definitely use it for future reference. Congrats to you and Tom on building such a great site and thank you for your contribution to the autograph community!

Best,

Tricia
