I love sports, but baseball kind of bores me. That doesn’t mean I don’t like baseball collectables. I remember being a kid and the excitement of getting Pete Rose and Johnny Bench rookie cards. I remember at a card show buying a Robin Yount rookie card for $10, after a kid had it autographed by Yount (his dad freaked out because he said it totally ruined the value of the card; it increased it for me).
I always…

I try to do blogs about current news related things involving autographs, as well as personal stories I have to share. This is one of those blogs where I talk about a current news story with some interesting items to be auctioned, and a bit of a rant by me.
Charlie Sheen, who at one time was a good actor and not just an insane…

The Tom Brady situation is back in the news (both with the commissioner reviewing the case and his few scenes in the movie Ted 2). Yet instead of dissecting whether or not a 4-game suspension was too harsh for one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks, I found this a much more interesting story.

This…

A few autograph/memorabilia type stories from the last few weeks that I thought would be of interest.
A gold pocket watch Babe Ruth owned sold for $650,108 at an auction. Now, I totally understand when an engraved humidor from comedian Milton Berle to John F. Kennedy went for $500,000. Those are two big names, and it was engraved and owned by a President.
That…

Okay, it’s the baseball all-star game, so how about a few more stories on baseball memorabilia?
Greg Spahn, the only child of the winningest left-hander in baseball history, has more than 800 items he’s going to auction at Hunt Auctions. He’s going to split everything he gets with his kids, which is probably making them happy. He’s got five, and I’m guessing they’d be…

A Florida judge said that George Zimmerman, the “vigilante” that shot and killed Trayvon Martin, can’t remove his GPS tracking device and can’t leave Seminole County. Zimmerman is currently out on a $1 million dollar bond. It wasn’t this story involving the 28-year-old defendant that I found so interesting yesterday. It was one from a few weeks earlier.
Zimmerman and his attorneys came up with an idea to help pay his legal costs and make some money – he’d sell autographs. The defense…
