Did he sign autographs and what are they worth today?  My kids used to love him and I'd have to take them to the area and watch wrestling.  Andre was my personal favorite.

I don't know if he signed...but he sure could drink.

Andre is reputed to have once downed 119 beers in about 6 hours.

at 7'4 and 500lbs he made an impression.  If not for André René Roussimoff as the "eigth wonder of the world" the WWF and Hulk Hogan would not have enjoyed the popularity and following they have.  One could say that era was when it started going from pure wrestling to "entertainment".

It's been said that he was not an uncommon signer but try and find one these days at a reasonable price.  A recent check on ebay found one for over $2k.   I have my favorate Haystack Calhoon and Bruno (from some inperson signings) with the latter still very reasonablly obtained.

Here is an Andre that was signed and has a JSA ok on it for signature comparision.

It would be interesting to hear any insight as to what Andre's signing habits were.  He died in 1993 at a relatively young 46, and I believe he was in pretty poor health by the late 80's/early 90's.   I've only seen a couple of seemingly authentic examples offered for sale over the years (in all fairness, I haven't exactly been actively looking), and they were late 70's vintage examples, I believe.

Perhaps a dealer in wrestling autographs (Authentic Signings Inc maybe?) might have some info.

he was a pretty good signer in the 1970s, but in the 1980s he wouldnt sign for anyone,he was totally ignorant. when the wrestlers started to stay at the ramada inn in manhattan.
