About 33 years ago, me and some friends decided to build a little KISS stage and put on a real live concert in my hometown of St. Stephen, South Carolina.  Through a mutual friend, I sent some pictures of the show to Gene Simmons and this 8x10 is what I got in return.  I kept it a while then sold it in the mid 80's.  I've decided to search for it and try to bring it home.  If you have it or have seen it or knows who has it, please get it touch and I will be forever grateful.  I will compensate you if I find it with your help.  If you actually have it, you'll have to sell it back to me.

Hi Herman, that's a great story! However, and I'm sure this isn't the kind of help you're looking for, but that is definitely not an authentic Gene signature. Plus, that is at the very height of their fame, so I'm sure someone at the office must have signed this. I am absolutely certain of this not being genuine. Not only because of the signature, but the rest of the handwriting is further proof.

Your assessment of the autograph and writing is spot on.  That is my writing, not Gene's.  I thought I had explained in the writeup that I re-created the 8x10 for this blog, but after reading it again, I see I did not.  I never had a picture of the 8x10 so I made this one for the blog.  Hopefully, someone will have come across it in over the years.  What I should do is post some of the pics of the Dynasty stage that we built and let everyone enjoy them like Gene obviously did.  Here's a pic of the stage, the crew, and the band.

WOW! Your set up was pretty damn impressive! Being kids and all, I was picturing something more rinky dink and 'cute' But this really looks awesome!  You guys obviously put some time into this. You guys may have been one of the very first 'tributes'!

Yeah, I was surprised that you had a picture of the autograph too, but the way your post is written it implies that this was the real one. Sorry I jumped to conclusions, but I just figured if that was it, you could save yourself the search by knowing it's fake!

I'd like to think we were the first KISS tribute band.  Think about it.  KISS did the Dynasty tour in 1979.  We did this one in the summer of 1980.  To this day, no one in the town knows who the band members actually were.  They never appeared as KISS w/o makeup.

This is not the first one we did.  Just the best one.  Here's a pic of the Alive II one we did in late 1978.  You have to remember.  KISS Army members were obsessed with this band in the 70's.  I know we were.

Cool, dude! However, if it's only authentic it's gone forever... sorry! Extremely rear! However, just to clear your conscience, I would suggest to contact to www.isitreal.com or brandesautographs of Markus Brandes for item evaluation.
