Should Autograph Authenticators sell or Consign Autographs to Auction Houses were they authenticate?

Now here is a fair question to ponder upon. Many on this site will be angry and attack, but yet a fair and important question that needs to be addressed. My answers and reseach will come at the end of the Blog Post.

I am Scott Davidoff.

I don't know if my name translates into a jewish name: Stephen Dwight Duncan. If so, please inform me as I always wanted to go to Israel. Everything I see about that country is so beautiful. Beautiful people, wonderful food, and the blue crystal Mediterrain Sea. (I do know Duncan is a Scottish name, not Irish like I thought for years).

I just posted this in the RR Auction authentication forum, but I'll post it here, too, since it's the topic.

I have no problem with the topic at all, even though I think Scott/Mike's intentions are suspect. The autograph forgery industry knows that experts like Epperson and Reznikoff would stop authenticating for auctions if they couldn't consign to them. They only get token payment for auction authentications, and do it to help the hobby...and it can be good PR.

Most auction authenticators make most of their money buying and selling autographs. If they can't consign to the best auctions, they won't authenticate for them. I'm not talking about PSA/DNA, JSA, and their employees (not consultants), since they make their money in certification.

For a simple solution, auction houses can clearly state something like this: "Our independent authenticators may consign to our auctions, occasionally or regularly. They may authenticate their consignments that fall under the authenticator's areas of expertise."

Just make sure every bidder is aware of that and I think that takes care of everything.

Your thoughts?

Hey Stephen,

You should go to Israel. I go twice a year and it is one of the greatest places on this earth for any religion or no religion for that matter. If you go i can hook you up big time over there, including autograph stores. I am going to give you a Hebrew name but I want Cyrkin, because he is more Jewish than I am, to approve. Here it goes: Sachel Davit Duncan

Spelling errors maybe when I am in a rush.

Who is the idiot that bought all fake signed items?
Who did not do there homework?

I am not that worried about it. I will just make more. I like what I do for a living. It is a lot of fun and very rewarding. I was fooled by Rock Star Gallery. The only reason I had anything to do with Autograph Central is that the signatures at the two stores match.

I am mad with Mr. Dunn and Mr. Slaven is because what they are doing is wrong. I hate seeing people taken advantage of. I don't think you have the same concerns as I do. You are just mad because you are such a disappointment in life.

Why are you mad at me? I do not even know you. I have no idea who Slaven or Dunn even are.
What do I have to do with your mistakes. I might have made a spelling mistake but you will need much more then spell check to correct your problems.
Good Luck.

I have all the time in the world to straighten things out with Rock Star Gallery and Autograph Central. One of these days I am going to find someone who takes what I am saying seriously. Once I find the right person, Mr. Slaven and Mr. Dunn will get what they deserve. That will be that.
