Authenticity is Everything
Need opinions on U2.
I picked up a U2 record and would like some opinions. The jacket and the liner notes are both signed.
The bono is dated 87. The record is an original 1987 pressing.
Why it doesn't fit forgery profile:
Rarer Original pressing, not some later pressing a forger would likely pick up at a record shop.
Ballpoint pen.
Signatures really close to the signatures I've studied from the period.
Why I doubt it's authenticity:
An authenticator I highly respect has his doubts about it. That's normally enough for me but these are just such good fakes if they're fakes.

Way, way off for an album supposedly signed in 1987. Forger was using examples from several years earlier. Poor forgery regardless.

Sorry but these aren't even "such good fakes" as you say. The Bono is way off and I've seen forgeries similar to that before. And original pressings of the Joshua Tree LP are not rare as that one sold many millions. Seen 'em on eBay for as low as 10 bucks.
