I would pass but thats just me. For that price I'd want photos of Kurt holding the guitar. Not necessarily doubting the story, but it wouldn't be enough to have letters and possibilities. A few years back a guitar neck signed by Kurt with photos of him signing it was struggling at $10K. For me personally I'd actually rather have that. The "exact proof" is what tips the scales.

Well put James l agree....especially at that price l want rock solid proof

Thanks

Just seeing this guys. I appreciate your perspective. I get it and it's very respectable.i always try to get items with photo matching / undisputed 1000% line of connection to that moment in time. That's always preferred but for many real items not always possible. This is factually one of 5 guitars that were ordered, we know that and several of them were documented 100% to have been broken beyond repair, some earlier on in the tour. So it's less than 5 (from everything we believe/ have seen)
of those exact guitars that were being used. For cases where artists use a stock guitar or have several of the same guitar or smash a guitar, it's a bit tougher to always have that. We have the guy that got the guitar from Kurt's hands and it's known that he gave away that guitar that show. If we had the exact show of use for that exact guitar pinned down/ photo matched, then it would be a lot more money. Funny, I tried to help solve that piece and agree it would have added another level to an already special item. That to me would be closer to $75k. It's always a bit of an art pricing it but that's my personal view.

I saw that neck btw and that's not one I'd take over this guitar ! Something like the neck that recordmecca sold 4 or so years ago from the blue Courtney tele is a different animal/ more substantial to me.

Speak soon guys and let's keep talking

Yeah prices on this stuff are very difficult to come up with. It really depends on the auction and if the big money comes out to play. I've seen weak auctions where they are practically giving things away, I've seen strong ones where people are paying 10 times what the item is valued at.

Of course everyone has their preferences, obviously photo proof would be better and add value, but some won't care all that much, I personally would want that for an item such as this. But again, that is just me personally. That doesn't mean I believe it isn't real, I believe it is real.

But good luck with the auction, I hope you get a good result.
