I'm sure the subject made you expect to see someone's name. Unfortunately, no, but it doesn't have to be that way.
I'm sure there are people that have knowledge of specific Beatles, or all four, that rivals the knowledge of Perry Cox, Frank Caiazzo, or Paul Wane (of Tracks). Of course, the three of them are difficult to get a letter from if you're not buying the item in question from them.
I would be happy to see someone start a new LLC offering to authenticate one or more of the Beatles. Perhaps someone knows Lennon backwards and forwards, but not the rest. Fine! Perhaps write letters at fair prices and make a name for yourself by getting all of them right, and then the public has someone new to consider.
This is not meant to overlook Epperson, Steve Grad, or Spence. But, none of them specialize in JUST the Beatles, or, more specifically, only certain members of the Beatles.
If the new authenticator starts an LLC, their personal assets will be "off limits" in the event that they're sued and lose.
Thoughts? Would the public benefit from a new letter-writing authenticator?

There are a few people on this site with the right knowledge to do it -- but do they have the time and the desire? That's the question.
I nominate Ballroom Days (Mark).
There are a couple of people that come to mind:
Rockaway Records and Bruce Spizer. Spizer knows the ins and outs of Beatles records and recordings. He might have knowledge of their signatures, but I don't know what his signature experience/IQ is like.
Luckily, Caiazzo and Cox came out as the victors from their lawsuit.
Paul - not necessarily. How much money have PSA and Spence made? I don't have a specific number, but I'm sure each has done well enough to remain viable. PSA began in 2000!
If one sets up an LLC, their liability will not exceed the value of the company. Even then, how could a judge hold them liable for their opinion? And, how would the Plaintiff prove that ones opinion is wrong?
