One can appreciate the similarities of style/presentation and formation between the OP 1985, the posted 1976 & blue 1979 and the red 1985.

i dont know why he started to sign the way he did in the latter 70s, right around the time he was doing elephant man, he started that b o and a line, his vintage signatures were really nice and full.

From my research he seems to have started experimenting with the "Bo-°" in early 1976. I have never seen one from 1975 or earlier. When I originally showed the blue 1976 I had, (below) it at first was said to be secretarial. Tracks was among the very few who recognized his had.

eric, you are right, it had to be around that time, i know in 1980 i believe. i wrote out to him, when he did the off broadway play elephant man, and he sent back, and the two items i got were signed in a ball point pen, with the bo only
