There is a signed Please Please my album listed on eBay. Item number: 272941098547

Do the signatures look genuine to you? How reliable is a COA from PSA/DNA for Beatles autographs? Are you familiar with this seller (autographs-for-sale)? Any other thoughts/comments?

Thanks,
Marc

I wasn’t sure how to add an eBay link without it being 20 lines long. Also, attached are the two other signatures close up.

Signatures certainly look authentic. If PSA got a fully signed Beatles Album wrong they'd hear about it from many people. Seller has authentic stuff but VERY expensive. Cheaper prices at auction houses. I believe Heritage Auctions sold a fully signed Please Please Me last year for $22.5k and that was after all the fees.

Yes, Heritage sold one for 22.5k in Feb.2016 although it didnt seem to be as nice as this one, including the previous owner writing in red ink on the front and back. Other HA sales of signed Please, Please Me albums over the last few years include:

62.5K Dec 2013
40.6 Apr 2014
33.5 Nov 2010
23.8 Apr 2015
21.3 Aug 2014

Some others I saw sold in the last few years include:35K, 37.5, 36.7, 32.5 (Bonhams, Fab 4, EBay, Caiazzo).

So, based on my limited research this asking price is certainly at the upper range but if it truly is in near mint condition, perhaps this price isn’t too outrageous, especially since they are accepting offers. Comparing images, it certainly looks cleaner than several of the other sold examples. Certainly, there may be a good chance of getting a better bargain at an auction but no guarantees. However, I’m a novice at this stuff. I’m just thinking aloud and I appreciate and welcome everybody’s input.

Having said that, I’m not in a great situation to make such a purchase right now anyway. I just bought my first set of Beatles autographs (on a Dezo Hoffman image), plus some other stuff (original Candlestick poster and ticket..). I can’t really justify/afford a signed album right now, unless it were an amazing opportunity. I do intend to be more seriously in the market after the new year.

Thanks.

Signatures certainly look fine, really good actually, at least as far as I can tell without seeing the actual item.
Ha ha what does $40k buy you these days!!! Signatures look like they were signed at a sit down meet and greet. Not at all rushed. If I was even considering a $40k spend I'd want a complete history on the Lp including time and place.

They look OK...very neat and clean...or is that a problem?

Hmmm that would be my question as well?

You mentioned a "meet & greet". They had 3 "signing" sessions...

Oct.6, 1962...signing copies of"Love Me Do"...

Jan.24, 1963...signing copies of"Please,Please Me"..

Dec.14,1963...London Fan Club...signed copies of "Please,Please Me....and "With The Beatles"...plus they gave a concert as well...

It just seems as if the signatures are almost drawn. To get a jacket signed at a gig you would expect a bit more of a hurried signature. These appear to be purposefully slow / careful indicating a more controlled environment.

Here they are at the "meet & greet" in London on Dec.14, 1963. You can see Lennon signing a "Please Please Me" album...

Yes a perfect environment for signing
Very cool, Jim.
