Chagall?

I purchased this piece in Santa Fe New Mexico, simply because I liked the colors and the illustration. 

I got it home and started researching the artist's name, and found Chagall. It looks very similar to his watercolor works, and there other drawings that feature just his last name.

I've seen online that they don't even authenticate anymore because there is so many fakes, so I just wondered if anyone out there knew more than me, and could share info with me.

I took apart the frame and there are no other markings. I'm not even sure what the design is made of. It's on heavy paper, but when you look at it from the back nothing comes through. Also, it's glued, or something like that along the top edge to the mat.

I welcome any comments or thoughts.

Hi Danielle,

It looks like the signature is part of the print; printed with the artwork. The blackish ink color of the signature looks to be the same as the blackish color on the art, and it looks like it has the same printed qualities. 

If that's the case, it's not signed by Chagall. Wish I had better news!

This is a printed signature.

I’ll dig out and share my authentic signed Chagall items.

He is heavily forged indeed.

So where is the original of this piece if this is a copy? Or is just a fake?

This looks like a print which  they may have printed in limited numbers.
