Saw this Dookie themed autographed guitar posted for sale on autographpros.com for 900$. I've been a really big Green Day fan since I was a kid with Dookie being my favorite album so this guitar definitely caught my eye. I'm a total beginner when it comes to collecting autographs though, with the only autographed item I own being a Melo Knicks jersey I got as a present a couple years ago. The website itself seems very reputable and I saw high praise for them on these forums but I'm worried that along with this signature looking pretty different then other Billie Joe graphs I found while looking around that the overall quality of it seems poor to me, especially with the top half of the B being so faded.

Autograph Pros is indeed a reputable company. As for the quality of the graph, I'm not really sure how that compares to other modern examples. That being said, it's still decidedly a bit of a scribble and I'm not sure Armstrong is quite rare enough to warrant spending $900 on a pick guard.

The lighter part of the signature you're referring to isn't really fading, but rather a product of the ink flow from the sharpie.

Thanks for the quick reply, really appreciated. I figured the "fading" was just from a dry side of the sharpie or something similar, just didn't know a better way to word it.

Total beginner at collecting autographed memorabilia so I'm not sure what the average price is on something like this but from the searching around that I did it seemed like 900$ wasn't a bad deal on a authenticated pickguard from a trusted source. I do really like the graphic on the guard as well so I think I'm leaning towards buying this

The biggest concern I had was definitely the quality being so poor that it was unrecognizable as a Billie Joe signature but that might just be me that thinks that.

Is the 900 for the guitar or just the pickguard?

If it is for the guitar, what type of guitar is it?

Chances are it will be a very cheap guitar, in which case you are probably paying $700 for the signature... and to be honest, (and Im not overly familiar with his signature), Im struggling to make sense of it- it doesnt match any of the examples Ive just found- full or shortened.  If this signature appeared on paper I wouldnt touch it.

Theres a lot of great greenday stuff out there- particularly if you have 900 to spend. I personally wouldnt be comfortable buying this and would suggest being very cautious! The company selling it is good- but everyone makes mistakes and if you ever wanted to resell, with the signature not looking anything like his normal signature, you would find it difficult.
