that's very strange

people don't usually sign their full name to a close friend

Plus its odd that John would have a piece of junk like this.... that's the type of stuff found in a second hand thrift shop 

but I can't really speak to this item other than guessing

The signature, like the furniture, is pure junk - though it gets points for humor: "don't let Yoko have it" and, my favorite "Thanks, buddy".

My provenance guess: it's some thrift store or dumpster-dive piece, probably acquired for a dorm room, signed one drunken night as a joke, then, at the end of the year, discarded.

Plus, as goodcat wrote, who would sign their full name to a close friend?
