Philip, would you mind taking larger images of the piece? An Elvis specialist may recognize the shape of the signature as being right or not, but unless there's a high resolution large, clear image to compare to, it's hard to get a dependable opinion.
Sure thing Steve.... I'm at work at the moment when I get home I will scan it properly... Just finding my way around this brilliant site...! cheers....
I'm not an authenticator or an expert, just a collector with signed Elvis pieces from reputable auction houses, people who have met the man, and some eBay auctions that have passed PSA/DNA or JSA authentication.
I see a lot of signatures like this but haven't seen anything with reputable authentication. I've seen a lot of very similar pieces on pieces that supposedly originated from Germany but are forgeries. I tend to see it a lot with the E and L in Elvis connected and the Y at the end of Presley swooping so far across like that. I think the E and L in Elvis are much more likely to be connected in some real pieces but add the Y in with it and I see a lot of similar forgeries. I didn't look any close than that to know that I personally wouldn't be comfortable buying it. Perhaps someone with some more expertise can shed some light on this, whether genuine or not?
